"NOO!!" Eliza screamed!

A bang echoed, a clatter, and dead silence, El fell backward, her body limb and unmoving, her eyes closed,

Widow lowered her weapon, still maintaining composure, yet seemingly waiting.

" How could you do this?!" Eliza demanded, moving to El's side, in spite of her injury, the ice had since disappeared, leaving only reddened flesh in its place.

" Calm down, her injury wasn't fatal, I wasn't going to kill her." Widow said, starting to approach El herself.

Eliza stepped out in front of the Agent.
"How do I know I can trust that you won't hurt her?" She asked, bravely standing her ground.

"If I wanted her dead, she wouldn't just be lying there injured, now stay back and let me help her, if you really care about her, then you don't have a choice." Black Widow explained calmly, walked beside the young Mutant, and placed a hand on her shoulder.
" I know that El has been on the run for a while now, and I don't know how much she has told you, but I'm a friend of hers, and I want her safe just like you do."

Eliza's fist clenched," Okay," She responded with much reluctance, realizing then that she was absolutely no help to El, she may be able to spot when something's amiss, but she was still utterly helpless to Azure, perhaps that was no be expected, perhaps she was just weak, she didn't know, but it didn't matter, Elvira needed someone who knew her." But you better help her!"

Wordlessly, Widow nodded.

" No need for that." El said with a pained strain, much to the two women's surprise!" I'm alright, just in a lot of pain, ugh, what happened?" She attempted to sit up, but to no avail, then it hit her!" Oh god, Eliza! Are you okay? Did she hurt you?!" El shouted in worry for her friend, clutching the bleeding wound in her shoulder left by Widow's "Bite"

At this moment, Eliza was grateful she was still wearing a jacket." No, I'm fine." She lied.

Natasha saw this, but said nothing, she knew that this girl had Elvira's best interest at heart, and El was still so emotionally unstable, the thought of bringing harm to the one who has been her only friend in the world may prove to much.

Have they seriously forgotten that I can sense lies? El thought, feeling her heart grow heavy......
" Thank goodness." She played along, smiling.

"What about you, are you alright?" Widow asked, sitting beside Elvira.

She snorted." Its funny, not often are you asked of your physical well-being by your very shooter."

" I knew you'd be okay," The Agent replied with a smile." If a laser from Tony's Ironman suit didn't hurt you, I didn't think my guns would, though I didn't know that you'd be pulled back to the surface."

El smiled back, though hers was not as pleasant, " I am in better control now then I was then, though not as much as I thought, considering that I still can loose it at anytime."

Elvira tried to move again, but once more was unable.

" Nat, why can't I move?" She asked, growing nervous.

A sad look appeared on Natasha's normally stoic features, to have a woman who had mastered her art to the slightest detail, able to kill and enemy without even blinking, face enemies from other worlds without a second thought, completely unafraid of the limits of her humanity, to excel in all tasks despite her mortality, it did not mean good news to El if she looked sad, sincerely sad, about what her next course of action would be.

" What's going on, what are you doing?!" Eliza demanded!

Tears welled up in El's green eyes," Nat, please, don't do this, not like this." She plead, her voice breaking.

She wanted to get to Fury, but not like this, not as his prisoner, she wanted to negotiate with him a free woman, but now, because by mere chance, she was now going to go through the very thing she feared, and at the behest of one she called friend.

Widow replied," Sorry, El, you have your mission, I have mine."

Tears fell, she had never felt so betrayed since she found out Hela's scheme, but why should she be surprised, women like her always lie, they make you feel safe, only to smash what's left of your soul.

El felt like such a fool, for letting herself trust her, for letting her guard down like this, leaving herself open to betrayal again!
She was just like Cap, mission before loyalty.

" Stay away from her, she's fine now, you can let her go!" Eliza said, hoping to talk her down.

Elvira's eyes turned almost dead-looking." When I awaken, I better not see you." She said coldly as she succumbed to the tranquilizer.

Widow knew that El would not be happy with her for this, El could be very spiteful at times, though she hoped that she did not hate her for it.

" What did you do?!" Eliza asked, kneeling in front of El, inspecting her unconscious form.

" She be okay, she's just unconscious." Widow replied." Now I have to ask you to leave, and let S.H.I.E.L.D handle this."

" Like hell I will!" Eliza shouted!" Where El goes, I go!"

" Your serious, your actually willing to get arrested with her?" Widow asked, surprised.

" Yeah, its a little thing called loyalty, something you wouldn't understand!" Eliza spat!

Widow was silent for but a moment," I understand plenty." Was all she said, then stood up and pressed her communicater to her ear.

" This is Agent Black Widow, I caught her."

" Good." Fury said, standing authoritatively, surrounded by several screens." Bring her here."

-------------

El groaned, a throbbing pain shot through her head, she could still feel Azure thrashing around in there, but she didn't seem very conscious either, it hurt, but not as bad as her shoulder, she felt an urge to see inspect it, but found that she was still unable to move.
She looked around, to find yet another glass cage, these were becoming all to familiar to her, she lay on a stark white bed, still dressed in her street cloths.
" Hello?" She attempted to shout only to hear a raspy whisper.

She didn't like this, it was to quiet, wouldn't there be someone watching over her?
Was S.H.I.E.L.D really slacking off that bad all of a sudden?

She was really starting to hate the silence.

" Are you awake?"

El gasped from her surprise as the voice shattered the quiet!

She, with strain, turned her head to where it came from.

It was a young man, possibly about her age, maybe a little older, with slicked back sandy-blonde hair, with thin-rimmed glasses guarding Dark brown eyes, he stood there like a guard, but wore what looked like a lab coat.

" Jaa," She said weakly, unconsciously reverting to her native tongue.

" Good, Ms. Romanoff will be happy to hear that." The man beamed, seemingly genuinely pleased, her approached the keyboard a few feet from.

" Keep her away, I don't want to see here!" El spat venomously, her condition doing little to secure her anger toward her friend." And isn't it Ms."Barton"? Last I looked, its been that way for years."

" Right, right, I guess I still call her by her maiden name because I knew her before her marriage." The man replied.

" What?" El replied, not sure if she heard correctly.

He did not reply, simply continued clicking the keyboard, Elvira could not see the screen, but he's been at it way to long to be entering a code.

" Ah," He said thoughtfully." Your Finnish, I'm afraid socializing and conversation is not my strong point, but I know quite a few languages, ironic, right?"

"Damnit." El said to herself, realizing that she was speaking Finnish the whole time, with effort, she spoke her next words in English.

" Who are you?" She asked, realizing that she could now at least sit up.

" I am August P. Jones, but most call me A.J." The seeming scientist replied." I take it your the infamous Elvira Vargo?"

El chuckled," Jaa, but then, you probably already knew that." She answered, her curse flaring, it should be illegal, to have a monster thunking around and your head, and an uncontrollable curse placed by her very grandfather!

Then a thought triggered.

" Tell me, strange man, is my uncle here?" She asked, concealing her anxiety.

" You mean Thor?" The man asked.

" No, Tyr, of course Thor!" She spat sarcastically, growing inpatient with his eery calmness.

" No, he isn't here right now, though it wouldn't surprise me if he showed up before long, he's been worried to death for you." August explained.

Elvira felt her heart sink to the floor upon hearing this, she believed him her enemy for so long, then after discovering the sword's deception, stayed away still because she wanted to protect Thor, but all the while didn't really take the time to stop and consider his feelings on the matter.

She was sinking to new lows everyday, and she had a feeling it wasn't going to stop there.

She hugged her knees tightly to her chest." So what's going to happen to me, am I going to be a prisoner here forever now, locked up in a cage like a common animal?" She asked bitterly.

" No." Was August's reply.

El shot her head up, surprised." What? Why? Am I not dangerous to you?" She asked, beside herself with confusion and fright!

" You are," August said casually, turning around to face her and placing his hands in his pockets. "But I was appointed by Director Fury to assist you, learn more about this so called, "Azure Blade" and see what I can find out, learn more about it, and psychologically train you to with stand it, get a better grasp on your emotions, and then maybe I can help you." He explained, sounding quite sure of himself.

" Well tell Fury that assigning you was a waste of time for you both, you can't control her with mere science, she is an ancient sword of hell, born from pure evil, living with an undying hate for the world, you can not possibly control that."

" Ah, you underestimate me, its no surprise, your still so young, allow me to explain, I hope to create a device using a fusion of science and medieval sorcery, and use it to cage the raging beast within you."

El arched an eyebrow." You sound so sure." She mused, though realizing that he was staying incredibly vague as to how he planned to take such action.

He raised his arms theatrically." I am."

" So, am I just going to sit here wasting away while you experiment on me?" She asked, still unsure of this man.

" Nothing of the kind, I was hoping to allow to roam S.H.I.E.L.D for, observation." August replied.

All at once, El was uneasy." Excuse me?" She asked.

" Not to worry dear, it is not as perverse as it sounds, I am actually planning to let you and your friend, in a sense, join us, for a time, until further notice is given of your, condition."

El shot up to her feet, her mobility in play," In other words I am just a glorified prisoner here?!" She demanded, icey ferns forming on the glass surrounding her.

" I wouldn't say that." August replied.

" Really?" El seethed between her teeth." Am I allowed to leave?"

" Well, no, but-"

" I knew it, you lie! Everyone always lies!" Elvira exclaimed!

" Calm yourself, there is no need to get angry." August tried to negotiate.

" Like hell there isn't!" El shouted, then she realized the edge this gave her,

I can play Agent here and find the traitor in their mist, I didn't exactly want to be held here against my will, but hey, you win some, you lose some, I just need to focus on staying calm, if they think I'm a loose cannon, I may not be let out of here.

Besides, this guy may just might be able to help me, in one fashion or another, as long as he's comfortable around me, and believes me to be recovering mentally, that means more leeway for me to find the man on the mike
. She thought, planning the whole thing out in her head, planning her next moves out one by one, her methods were underhanded, she admitted, but she had nothing but her friend's safety at heart, and the man who would be her prey deserved to die for the things he has done!

Mavis' dying figure flashed through her mind!

It was a little funny, how someone she had only known for hours, could have had such an impact on her like she did.

Her powers died down." I am sorry, I, I did not mean to-" She wasn't lying, she never meant for her powers to go berserk like they tended to.

" No need for that, you are an angry child, nothing out of the ordinary given your situation, but we shall fix that together." August said, surprising able to brush off her outburst with ease.

He turned and started walking away, " I will see you in the evening, Elvira, when I am sure your temperament has cooled." He called to her with a wave.

When he passed through the door, and El was alone, she slumped in her single bed, and rested her head in her hands.

" Just remain calm, El, you can do this, this isn't exactly how you wanted to reunite with everyone, and your new identity is most likely worthless to you now, but that's okay, you need to find him, to make him pay for his sins, to avenge the fallen Mutants, and most importantly, to protect your loved ones, this is good, all in all, this is what you wanted." Elvira tried to convince herself, hoping that she was right this time.

Not as long as I originally intended, but I still like the results, hopefully you guys will to :)

:D totally worth the wait!

Widow was great, she acts like she's supposed to! :D I'm still fangirling over it!

I love how Eliza and Widow interact. It shows how truly different they are, but in the end they still want what's best for El. It reminds me of what Scarlett Johanson said in a past interview about her role as Widow in The Winter Soldier, and she mentioned how Steve and Nat differ because, although they have the same mission, he has morals he stands by, while she has morals, but they might shift according to the situation. It was pretty clear here too!

AUGUST! He's like annoying and funny at the same time! it's amazeballs! :D
